New Beetlejuice Nail Polish From Models Own

28 Sep

How gorgeous are these? Just announced on Facebook, these new Models Own nail paints will be released in November. I just love them all, no idea how I will choose! At only £5 each as well they are pretty special for that great price.

I used to have a Rimmel one like this called Zeigest which I just loved, so nice to see that this look has returned!

Which one do you want?

Snazzy Satchels from Zatchels

26 Sep

I’ve been after a Satchel for ages and when I spotted the Zatchels range in Liberty last week, it made me pleased that I hadn’t purchased yet, as these ones are just the most amazing looking satchels I’ve ever seen! Patterned, metallic and quirky multi coloured designs, there is a Zatchel for everyone!

Hand made in England using the finest materials and available in a range of sizes and shapes, Zatchel offer everything you’d expect from a fine Satchel company, the regular Satchels retail at between £76 to £100, which for a nice quality leather bag in a timeless design it’s pretty good.

I love the quirky designs on offer at Zatchel, here are some of my favourites:

What do you think? Which one would you have? You can browse the range on the Zatchel website or at Liberty of London.

Review: Sephora Hello Kitty ‘Say Hello’ Palette

26 Sep

How cute is this Hello Kitty Sephora palette? I was lucky enough to get this bought for me as a gift, when my parents visited New York earlier this year. The Hello Kitty shaped palette came in two colour ways, I got ‘Say Hello’ which contains more everyday, muted shades, the compact itself features a good sized mirror and two layers, one contains four eyeshadows and one contains four lip glosses. The exterior of this pretty thing has a gorgeous white, pearlescent finish and a silver, diamond cut bow, how could you not want one of these?

Here are the eye colours, four shades, all with a metallic, pearlescent tone. There is a Ice Cream, Peppermint, Airplane and Chocolate Milk. How cute are those names? The top layer also features the nice sized mirror. Only odd thing about this palette is that it doesn’t come with any applicators, but I know lots of you will be pleased of this, as there are no rubbish sponge applicators to complain about!

Here are the colours swatched with my finger, they haven’t come out the best, as the colours are quite sheer when applied in one layer, but the shimmer is just lovely and I think that comes across in these pictures.

The lip gloss level doesn’t have a mirror, but has four lip gloss shades, which are each scented to represent their names! The colours are called Baby Pink, Strawberry Jam, Springtime and Peach Pudding. I didn’t swatch these as they aren’t different enough to show up. Basically, it seems that it is the scents that vary and not the actual colours. I love the scent of the Strawberry Jam colour, it smells just as you would expect it to! Please note, that Baby Pink does not smell of Baby.

I was creative today, especially for blog pictures and used all four shades in an eye look for you, hope you will like. Although, for some reason, I forgot to apply mascara, so the look is not quite complete, but at least you can see how the colours work together. I would say that the purple shade, Airplane, isn’t as purple as it looks and is a more silvery version of the Ice Cream shade, whereas the green and brown shades are much more distinct.

I’ve got one of the lipglosses on here too, which you’ll see has little colour, but a nice sheen to it and it’s not very sticky which is nice. I used all four shades on my eyes and the brown shade for my brows. My foundation and blusher are from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics (for whom I work for!).

What do you think? Nice daytime look isn’t it? Who else thinks that Sephora should come back to the UK?

Liberty Hello Kitty Collection Launches Tomorrow

25 Sep

I can’t wait to see this! I’ve been excited about it ever since they announced it nearly a year ago. The Liberty Loves Hello Kitty line launches tomorrow (26th September) for two weeks. The line will feature cosmetics gifts, make up, stationary, umbrellas and more! I’m SO excited and so pleased that this arrives in time for pay day as I’m sure I’ll want most of it!

The launch will also see the line of Liberty Hello Kitty fabrics previously only available in Japan being rolled out worldwide. These are just the cutest, a range of traditional and not so traditional Liberty fabrics featuring subtle and not so subtle Hello Kitty appearances. It makes me wish I was more crafty, as I’d love to make something from these fabrics!

You can see the full range of fabrics online at Liberty, the one above is one of my faves and the colours that I would most likely something that I’d like to use or something.

What do you think? What would you most want for yourself?

Review: Models Own Lip Balm in Red Hot & Lipstick in Red Wine

25 Sep

These are two of the items I bought in the Models Own sale that took place recently, bought purely on impulse and not really something that I needed! I got a lip balm in Red Hot in the hopes of finding a gently coloured moisturising lip balm for every day and lipstick in Red Wine in hopes for a dark shade of red that would work for the autumn. I’d previously had my eye on Lipstick Queen by Poppy King in Wine Sinner, so hoped that this Models Own one might be a cheaper alternative. Here they are in their packaging:

The lip balm is in a small pot, slightly too small to fit your finger in, in my opinion, plus because the colour is very strong I’d advise using a brush so as not to stain your finger! Which I think kinda defeats the point of a lip balm, as usually you want something that is easy and quick to apply. The lipstick is your traditional bullet. Here are the two colours swatched, the darker colour is the lipstick in Red Wine and the other is the lip balm in Red Hot.

Both are a nice smooth consistency for a smooth application and a moisturising feel on first application. I love the colours, the Red Hot lipbalm is a classic primary red with a nice sheen to it and the Red Wine lipstick is a dark red with a creamy texture, I would say that the Red Wine lipstick swatches paler than I had hoped, I was hoping more for a autumn leaf red, this one is a bit closer to your classic red.

Here’s the Red Wine lipstick on the lips, apologies for the slightly wonky application! But at least you can see the colour in the correct location. A nice finish and a nice shade, unfortunately nothing like the Poppy King Wine shade I was after, but still a useful shade. I would say that this lipstick although it feels moisturising, this feeling doesn’t last as long as I would hope and easily smudges, but I think for the lower price point, this is acceptable. The lipstick colour does stain though, meaning that once the residue of the lipstick has rubbed off, you are still left with some colour.

The lip balm, as mentioned does stain, so do not apply with your finger, the colour is a primary red and very gloss, I prefer this to the lipstick, although the bright colour isn’t as wearable as I’d hope, I was expecting more of a tint, but this colour is very strong.

I also think that the two colours I went for are very similar, so if you want a Models Own red lip colour you only need to choose one of these two. I’m still sticking with my Illamasqua Encounter lipstick as my signature lip colour though, as the pigment is amazing and the staying power unrivalled. Detailed review of this gem coming soon!

Which is your signature red lipstick? What do you think of Models Own lip colour?

Review: OPI Ogre The Top Blue Nail Polish

24 Sep

Today I’m wearing a limited edition OPI polish that I got for Christmas last year. It from a Shrek collection that OPI did and its called Ogre The Top Blue.

As with all OPI the colour and quality is very high. This shade I’d amazingly bright blue like cartoon sky blue.

What do you think? Which limited edition nail polishes do you like?

Review: Lime Crime Lipstick Centrifuchsia and Countessa Fluorescent

22 Sep

Ok, here’s another Lime Crime review because I’ve been meaning to do this for ages, but have only recently gotten into reviewing beauty products properly. I’ve had my Lime Crime lipsticks for over a year and purchased Centrifuchsia especially for my wedding. You have to love the Lime Crime styling, the website, the packaging, the product names, everything is mega fun.

Here’s the products in their full glory, featuring holographic unicorns on the purple pink tubes, how could you not want to own one of these?

And here are the two colours that I own, the pale one is Countessa Fluorescent and the darker one is Centrifuchsia (my fave!) You’ll love how these lippies smell too, they are deliciously scented of cocoa butter, making them smell and feel extra luxurious.

And of course, you’ll want to know about the pigmentation of these lipsticks since they are at the higher end of the price spectrum! Only one slick and with both shades you get a opaque, strong colour. Centrifuchsia stains your lips it’s so strong and Countessa Fluorescent isn’t as strong, but still only needs one layer. Here they are swatched straight from the stick. Centrifuchsia is the dark shade and Countessa Fluorescent is the pale shade.

Both finishes are slightly glossy, your standard lipstick texture, the cocoa butter content makes them nice and moisturising when on. I find that Centrifushsia has the greatest staying power of the two as it works like a stain, Countessa Fluorescent will need reapplication and would be best applied over primed lips.

This is me wearing Centrifuchsia on both my lips and my cheeks, the creamy texture of this lipstick makes an ideal product for blending into your cheeks and I just love the colour! As you can see, this colour isn’t so terrifying on, it’s warming and I reckon it suits a lot of skin types. This applies very well straight from the stick, although for tidy lines I always neaten up with a lipbrush.

And here is Countess Fluorescent, certainly a trickier shade to wear, it looks best on warmer skin tones I think, so I’m not 100% convinced about it on me at the moment, I like it more in the Summer, but I’m so pale I think a pale lipstick drains me a little, what do you think? As mentioned previously, this one works best over primed lips and doesn’t stay put as long as Centrifuchsia. Here’s the EXTREME close up!

I’ve recently discovered that these colours actually mix quite nicely, so to warm up this colour I layered it with Centrifuchsia to find a third colour which I think is a nice middle shade, what do you think?

Hope you enjoyed my post, this is still new territory for my blog, so please let me know how you think I’m doing with my beauty reviewing!

Review: Illamasqua Faux Pas Rubber Finish Nail Polish

22 Sep

This weekend I finally got to see the new Illamasqua collection in the flesh. Firstly from a marvellous presentation from Head of Product Development and experienced make up artist David Horne at the Olympia Beauty show on Sunday, David and his team demonstrated a look from the new Theatre of the Nameless collection for A/W 11 as well as offering an insight into the inspiration and creation of the Illamasqua, it was fascinating and I’m delighted that I got to attend.

After the show I visited the equally marvellous Beak Street store in Soho, central London. Tempted by the entire range, with a particular interest in Beguile Pure Pigment and the Morale Blusher among many other things, I decided on the Faux Pas Rubber Finish Nail Polish, I loved the look of the colour and I was intrigued by the finish.

So here it is, in all its lovely purple glory and as described, with a rubber finish, like a latex sheen. It applies easily and works with just one coat, although I went for two as I wanted to touch up bits I’d missed. As with all Illamasqua nail polishes it dries quickly and lasts a long time.  A must try product for sure, I’ll be back for another colour on pay day!

Review: Lime Crime Magic Dust in Twilight

21 Sep

Todays review is from another of my favourite brands, Lime Crime! Created by the beautiful, creative Doe Deere (you should check out her blog, it’s amazing) this American line currently offers lipsticks and eyeshadows (Magic Dusts) in a range of outrageous, fun colours inspired by candy, unicorns and fairy tales. It’s unlike any other range I’ve ever seen, super fun and top quality too. The American site does ship to the UK and the service is amazing, however, you can also find their products in the UK at Space NK.

Anyway, this review is about the Magic Dust in Twilight which one of my lovely friends bought me as a gift at Christmas last year.

Here it is in it’s truly gorgeous packaging, I’m a sucker for some pretty packaging, it’s such a simple thing but makes it feel more special and exciting. All Lime Crime make up features the shiny Unicorn logo. This was an awesome gift as well because it’s so tiny, when it was wrapped up it was the cutest package and very mysterious!

The Twilight shade of the Lime Crime Magic Dust is a classic purple, with lots of iridescent and purple particles in it. All of the Magic Dusts are loose powders (similar to Barry M Dazzle Dust) and come in a sifter pot so that you can moderate how much comes out. Mine’s been in my make up bag though, so a lot has emptied outside of the sifter bit.

Used with a dry brush, the Lime Crime Magic Dusts apply very sheer, which isn’t a bad thing as this makes the product more versatile, this one looks lovely sheer as it would just add a lovely glittery sparkle. For the full effect apply wet or with a primer for an intense colour. Here is what they look like swatched…P.S This is my first ever swatch, I hope it’s useful!

Now before you see these photos, let me remind you that I’m no pro when it comes to apply eye make up and I’m in some serious need of some practise! But I always think you need to see the product in the place it was intended to fully appreciate it. These were applied with a damp brush.

Have you tried any Lime Crime make up? What’s your favourite? Mine is Centrifuschia lipstick.

Review: Illamasqua Kiss Powder Blusher

19 Sep

As you are probably aware, I am a huge fan of the Illamasqua brand, so I was delighted to pick up this Blusher for only £10 in the sale at the Beak Street store. I had not yet tried a Illamasqua blush, so this was a great thing to pick up as I want to review more beauty products on here, but I’m a careful spender. I was also keen to try a new blush after sticking with the same one for so long, having seen lots of bloggers write about their blusher collections, I became intrigued, as it wouldn’t usually be a product that would excite me.

Kiss Blusher, is a perfect choice for everyday it’s a matt finish rose pink shade, with terracotta undertones. As with most Illamasqua products, this one is also highly pigmented meaning you only need the tiniest amount to do the job, which is great as it means it will last longer too. I was surprised to discover that this blusher also has a lovely cocoa butter scent which I was not expecting, but thoroughly enjoyed.

I apply the blusher with one of my Youngblood Contour Brushes and sweep gently onto the apples of my cheeks and the cheek bones, in my usual style. As mentioned before, this is highly pigmented so you need to be careful as it would be very easily overdone.

Here it in on me, with otherwise minimal make up, I love how to stands out subtly against my pale skin, it’s the traditional English Rose look that I like but with a quality product that I know will last throughout the day. I’m sorry I look a bit glum, this is the first time in a long time that I’ve taken a self portrait and the first time ever that I’ve not photoshopped it!

Which blushers do you rate? What should I try next? Do you love Illamasqua as much as I do?
